Take It Easy! The Best Inflatable Lounger For The Ultimate Summer Chilling
When the sun’s shining, whether you’re on the beach, by the pool or in the garden, what you really need for the ultimate chilling experience is an inflatable lounger. I have chosen five different options to test and review to help choose the best inflatable lounger for you.
There are many times and places where you might want to use an inflatable lounger but there are certain factors that may affect how you select the perfect lounger for you. Here is a list of a few things you may wish to consider.
Clearly, whatever you plan to use your inflatable lounger for, be it for camping, for the beach, for the garden or just your home, the primary concern is going to be just how comfortable the thing is for those lazy afternoons or evenings.
Aspects that might affect the comfort will be things like the material, the surface, the shape and so on – as well as how easy it is just to sink into the lounger and chill right out.
Size And Weight When Deflated
The advantage of having an inflatable lounger is that it is portable and easy to transport to a campsite or a beach. The size and weight of the lounger when fully deflated and packed away will affect just how portable it is. This is a key consideration if you don’t have much space in your car.
This is an important consideration since you don’t want your lovely lounger to explode when too many people try to sit on it. If you are a larger person or you hope to use it with three or even four people at the same time, you might want to find the strongest models.
A key concern is how tough the lounger is. If it’s only for casual use by the kids in the back garden, you can probably get away with buying a cheap inflatable lounger. If it’s destined for the campsite where it might get punctured, you’ll need a lounger that can withstand rougher conditions.

The material it is made from may affect comfort, durability and weight so you should think about this when you are choosing the right lounger for you.
Waterproof And Floatable
If you plan to use the lounger only on land then you probably don’t need one that can float – but if you’re going to buy a lounger, why not choose one that you can take into the swimming pool? That would be just perfect for relaxing on the water with a cocktail in your hand.
If you don’t plan to take your lounger into the pool, you still might wish to choose a waterproof one in case you get caught in a rain shower. A large and inflated lounger might not be easy to get out of the rain in a hurry.
Inflation Method And Ease Of Inflation
Inflating Air Lounger With 'Running' Method
Let’s be honest, you’re not going to be able to inflate one of these with your mouth – loungers are normally inflated either by using a pump or the ‘running’ method. The disadvantage of a pump system is you need to carry more kit – but you can probably adjust the pressure more easily.
A ‘running’ method version is much faster to get ready. You open one end and run against the wind to trap the air inside and quickly close the opening to trap air inside. This technique can take some time to master but is actually quite simple when you know how.
This is no minor consideration when you are looking for the utmost comfort on your lounger and you need somewhere practical to store your phone, kindle, books and drinks while you don’t need them.
Many loungers come with assorted pockets and pouches. Once you’re installed on a comfortable lounger, you really won’t want to be getting up to find things you’ve dropped on the floor so this is definitely something you should look at.
An inflatable lounger is just a big bag of air and in windy conditions, it can easily be blown away. Some loungers come with a system to fasten them to the ground and if you are planning on lounging in windy places, you might need this to avoid having to chase a flying lounger!
Finally, you should consider the warranty. Better quality loungers will be guaranteed to last longer, and a longer warranty period within which they can be exchanged will give you extra peace of mind that you are not wasting your hard-earned cash on an inferior product.
This is a simple and affordable inflatable lounger from AIWOTOWOW that is available in two shades of blue and comes with a carrying bag. It features two large pockets and an elastic anchor to secure it in the wind. It weighs only 2.2lbs deflated but can take up to 440lbs in weight.
I love that this lounger is so super simple. There’s nothing fancy about it, it’s easy to inflate and deflate and packs down easily. It’s very comfortable when filled with air and is big enough to easily seat two people.
It’s water resistant and floats on water with no problem. It’s also made of fairly resistant material – although you don’t want to place it on anything sharp. Another plus is that it comes with a lifetime warranty so if you have any problems, you can just get a new one.
While the ‘running’ method is really simple in theory, some people might take a while to get used to it – although it really isn’t difficult once you’ve got the hang of it. Another small issue is that it takes a while to dry after it’s been in the water.
I think this is a great option if you’re looking for an inexpensive lounger maybe for kids and would be great in the garden, at the campsite or on the beach. Bear in mind, you might need a bit of patience before you learn how to fully inflate it!
Simple, no frills
Easy to inflate – once you know how
Takes time to dry
Need to get the hang of ‘running method’ to inflate
This inflatable lounger from ChillaX is available in several cool colors and is supplied with a decent carrying bag and even a bottle opener for beers or sodas. It features three pockets to store your stuff, has a comfy headrest and floats on water. It inflates using the ‘running’ method.
This lounger is so comfortable and you just sink right into it. You can’t do much but lie down, however the headrest design is a great feature and gives support to your head just where you need it. It’s also available in several different colors which means it looks great too.
This lounger is a bit more expensive but is made of good-quality materials. This company is known for great customer service so you know you will be supported if you have problems – and they will even let you return it no questions asked if you are not completely satisfied with it.
Similar to the AIWOTOWOW, it is really simple to inflate but the method takes some getting used to. You may find it a bit frustrating at first before you get the hang of it. This lounger also tends to deflate a little quickly if you don’t close it up really well.
This would be a good choice if you want a cool looking and comfortable lounger and don’t mind paying a bit more for it. If you are on a budget, there may be better options.
The Chillbo Baggins inflatable lounger is, in fact, very similar to the ChillaX. It is inflated using the ‘running’ method, it is available in seven flashy colors and includes large side pockets and an anchor. It can take up to around 450lbs in weight and can be used on water.
I love the Chillbo Baggins’ great range of funky colors and you should be able to find one to suit your style. It’s lightweight and is made from good, strong material that won’t tear easily.
The Chillbo comes with a no-questions-asked return guarantee and is also easy to inflate – when you know how. I also found the name pretty funny!
For me, this is a great lounger but lacks the headrest of the ChillaX and that makes it less comfortable. It also shares the same problems in that it takes practice inflating properly and then deflates quickly if not closed really well.
This is a similar lounger to the ChillaX and would appeal to people with similar requirements. You might not want to choose this if you think having a headrest is important.
Great selection of color options
Made from good materials, good quality
Lacks headrest so less comfortable than the ChillaX
The X-Lounger is a similar, but slightly less expensive, option than the ChillaX or the Chillbo. It is made of 210T nylon and only weighs 1.8lbs but can still take up to 440lbs in weight when inflated. It can be used on water, can be inflated by ‘running’ or by pump and can be used on water.
I think one of the best features about this lounger is that it can be inflated in two different ways. It can be inflated by the running method like the others but if you think this will be a problem, you can use a specially made pump – you have the option of buying the pump with the lounger.
I think the carrying bag supplied with this lounger is particularly good and the fabric of the lounger feels nice to lie on. The manufacturer claims it will stay inflated for up to eight hours. I’m not sure about this but if you close it up properly, it will last a long time.
I feel this lounger is of slightly inferior quality to the ChillaX and Chillbo and the price is not much less. If you are using the ‘running’ method, it may take time to get used to it, as with the other loungers that inflate like this.
I think this is a good choice for someone who is worried about the ‘running’ inflation method – make sure you buy the pump when you buy the lounger. If you want the highest quality product, you may choose to spend a little more for something slightly better.
Can be inflated by ‘running’, pump – or even by mouth
Good carrying bag
Stays inflated for a long time – if you tie it up properly
This option from Teromas is one of the least expensive inflatable loungers available. It is inflated by the ‘running’ method and only weighs around 1.8lbs. It is available in three colors and is supposedly capable of taking a weight of up to 400lbs.
The most attractive thing about this lounger is its price as you won’t find many choices that cost less. For the price, it is a comfortable lounger and the carrying bag is also a good size and shape.
There are a couple of downsides with this lounger. First, it does seem to be genuinely harder to inflate than the others by using the ‘running’ method. Secondly, unsurprisingly at this price point, this lounger is of markedly inferior quality compared to the other choices.
This might be a good option for someone who wants to spend the least amount of money – for anyone who wants an item that will last and give satisfaction over a longer period, you may wish to select one of the other loungers.
These loungers are such a great idea, easy to transport, easy to use and such a practical solution for lazing about in the sun. The Teromas is a good choice for someone on a tight budget but the AIWOTOWOW is slightly better for just a little more money.
The X-Lounger is good if you’re not sure about the ‘running’ inflation method and the Chillbo is good if you have a higher budget. However, with its super comfy headrest, three useful pockets and even a bottle opener, the ChillaX is the best inflatable lounger out there and I highly recommend it.
